What are the Benefits of Buying a New or Used Shipping Container for Sale in Milwaukee, WI?

When we speak to our clients about their shipping container experience, they often cite benefits like:

Durability

One of the main reasons shipping containers are favored across various industries is their remarkable durability. Like Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee, WI, these containers are engineered to endure the harsh conditions of the open sea, including fierce storms, strong winds, and extreme cold temperatures.

Constructed from steel, shipping containers are coated with a specialized paint that safeguards against corrosion, ensuring they remain reliable for many years. Additionally, each container is capable of supporting heavy loads and can be stacked efficiently, maximizing space during transport.

Versatility

One of the biggest benefits of shipping containers is their versatility. While freight containers are great for storage, they can also serve as office spaces. In fact, with a little creativity, you can use your shipping container as both an office and a storage area. Blairworx Solutions' shipping containers for sale are great for a range of uses in many industries, including:

  • Solutions
  • Government

Maintenance

When it comes to shipping containers, the main replacement you'll need to think about every few years is the door gaskets. Shipping containers are designed for low maintenance, but it's still important to carry out an annual inspection to check for any areas where rust might start to form.

Easy Delivery

Shipping containers are delivered by truck. Before unloading, make sure there's enough space for the truck to drop off the container. At Blairworx, our team is happy to help you assess how much room you need for a shipping container drop-off. A good rule of thumb is to allow an area about twice the length of the container, with extra room in a straight line. For optimal placement, containers should be on level ground, especially in areas prone to flooding, where elevation is key.

Which Industries Benefit Most from New and Used Shipping Containers?

The shipping container, originally designed for global transportation, has transformed into one of the most versatile innovations of our time. Made primarily from durable Corten steel, shipping containers are perfect for many uses in a wide range of industries. Let's check out a few of the most popular.

Shipping Containers for Construction Sites

Onsite Storage Shipping Containers for Sale in Milwaukee, WI

Whether you're expanding your commercial operations or moving out of your house, at some point, there's a chance you'll need additional storage. According to recent data, nearly 40% of Americans are currently using self-storage. If you need a short-term solution, a storage facility might work. But if you have long-lasting storage needs, it could be time to explore a more affordable solution.

Monthly Storage Options vs. Shipping Containers for Sale in Milwaukee, WI

Twenty years ago, shipping containers were not easily attainable for the average person. Nowadays, you can buy a container from Blairworx and have it delivered right to your business or home on the same day. In many parts of the United States, a 20ft shipping container-which provides long-lasting solutions for building, storage, and shipping-can be purchased for less than what you would pay for a year of traditional climate-controlled storage.

A Reliable Long-Term Investment

When thinking about storage options, money is often a big factor in making a choice. At first, renting a storage unit might seem like a simpler and cheaper option because there aren't many costs upfront. But if you look at the big picture, buying a storage container from Blairworx Solutions can save you more money in the long run. When you own a shipping container, you pay once instead of making regular rental payments that can add up over time.

One of the best things about having your own storage container is how flexible it is. Unlike traditional storage units that are stuck in one place, a container from Blairworx can be set up exactly where you want it. This makes it very easy to access your goods when you need them. This feature is especially helpful for business owners who need to grab their items often or need storage closer to their storefront or office.

Cargill is permanently closing its ground beef processing facility in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley

MILWAUKEE —

A long-standing Milwaukee meat plant is shutting down.

Cargill announced it's permanently closing its ground beef processing facility in the city's Menomonee Valley, resulting in 221 job losses.

According to a WARN notice sent to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the global company alerted workers to the closure on Tuesday. Production will end in mid-April, and the plant will fully close by the end of May.

"This came out of nowhere," BizTimes editor Andrew Weiland told WISN 12 News on Wednesday. "You never like to see job loss in the city or in the area at all. Certainly, it's not a drastic number, but it's a sizable number. And certainly for each and every one of those families affected, it's a big problem."

When asked why it's closing this location, the company sent a statement saying:

"Cargill has made the difficult decision to close its Milwaukee ground beef facility to better align our portfolio with current customer demand and prioritize investments where they are needed most for the future. We recognize the impact this decision has on our 221 employees, and our focus is on supporting them with respect, care and assistance as they navigate this transition. Moving forward, we will shift ground beef production volume to our other North American beef processing facilities, including the nearby Butler, Wisconsin plant, to continue reliably serving our customers."

Weiland called Cargill's closure a business decision, saying, "At the end of the day, the business is trying to be more profitable. And they look at the facility and say the cost of operating this just isn't worth it to us. They're going to close it. That's really what it comes down to."

Milwaukee's mayor said he has been in touch with Employ Milwaukee to help those now left looking for a new job.

"That part of Milwaukee was once a center of meat packing with thousands of jobs at various plants, and Cargill's departure marks the end of an era," Mayor Cavalier Johnson said in a statement.

If you feel like it's snowing more this winter than the past few years, you're not wrong.

So far this winter, Milwaukee has already logged more snowfall than it did in all of the 2024-25 season, according to data from the Wisconsin State Climatology Office.

The city got a couple more inches this week amid an extreme cold snap, on top of a snowy December and a Thanksgiving weekend storm that kicked off the winter.

Here's how much it's snowed in Milwaukee and other Wisconsin cities so far this winter:

How much has it snowed in Milwaukee this winter?

As of Jan. 27, Milwaukee has gotten 30.6 inches of snow so far this winter, per the Wisconsin State Climatology Office.

According to climate data between 1991-2020, Milwaukee typically logs 25.8 inches by this point in the season – meaning it's already snowed more this year than it usually does by late January.

In general, Milwaukee averages 48.7 inches of snow per season, per the Climatology Office. The 2024-25 season was significantly less snowy, with 30.3 inches recorded for the winter as of May 2025. The season prior to that Milwaukee saw 32.6 inches of snow.

How much has it snowed in other Wisconsin cities this winter?

Like Milwaukee, most southern Wisconsin cities have already surpassed 30 inches of snow this season, according to USA TODAY's snowfall tracker, which is based on data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Some parts of far northwest Wisconsin – like the city of Hurley, which is one of the snowiest cities in the country – have seen upward of eight feet of snow this winter.
